Had a great experience with them! My instructor was Chathu - he was very patient and guided me very well! For a beginner I was able to stand up on the surf board quite a few times and ride the wave!!😊😊

Thank you to the team at YAKA surf for making my experience so easy. I hired boards from them over 2 days. There were plenty to choose from and such an affordable rate. They shared their knowledge about the area and gave me advice of where to go to get the best out of my time. Thank you guys 🙏

Amazing place to go to learn how to surf! We went as beginners and the instructors helped us make so much progress during the lesson. They were so attentive and fun! I will definitely go back here when I visit Sri Lanka again

I had three amazing lessons with coach Sampath, as a scaredy-cat beginner, the lessons were very detailed and helpful also safe as well. Highly recommend anyone who’s interested and want to learn and get better at surfing. After three lessons and some self practice, I’m able to catch waves and turn by myself all thanks to the lessons here. The front desk staffs Vihu and Khandula are also very welcoming and friendly. Overall 10/10 for my experience here🫶🏽

Absolutely amazing experience. I have never seen a more patient teacher than Niahu. kudos to him! Yasiru the lead person here was super kind and hospitable. He made a small surprise birthday cake for my wife and made it super memorable for her. All the staff were too kind. As a beginner, I would say close your eyes and just come here, they will make sure you have the best experience surfing the wave.

Best place to learn surfing. Had such a great time learned there for two weeks.
Our coach name was Ishan, best coach out there, good vibes, great laughs, more then a coach.

The coolest surf club. Great guys, masters of their craft. I don't speak any English, only Russian, but they understood me, explained everything, and were able to get me on the board. I want to mention the excellent coach, Ishan. He got me on the board from the very first lesson and speaks pretty good Russian. By the sixth lesson, I was already riding a green wave on my own. Ishan is more than just a coach! I found a true friend on this island!

We were recommended Yaka Surf as one of the best surf schools in the area, and they absolutely lived up to their reputation. We came for our first-ever surf lesson and were assigned to instructor Nishu. That moment marked the beginning of our love for surfing.
Out of our 6 lessons, we had 5 with Nishu, and he was simply phenomenal. He is not only an excellent instructor but also a wonderful person—incredibly patient, attentive, and calm. He genuinely shared in my successes, cheering me on and assuring me that I could do it. And thanks to his guidance, I did!
What truly impressed me was how Nishu carefully watched every wave and every surfer around us to ensure each of my waves was productive and successful. His vigilance made me feel safe and allowed me to progress quickly.
Beyond the amazing lessons, the atmosphere at Yaka Surf is fantastic. The team is friendly, always smiling, and puts great effort into what they do. The school's level of professionalism is also evident in the details: comfortable branded sun loungers and umbrellas where you can spend the whole day, a bottle of water before the lesson, and a refreshing coconut afterwards.
I also loved their merch! I bought several t-shirts for myself and as gifts—all with cool designs and the school's logo. I am extremely happy with the overall experience and highly recommend Yaka Surf and the incredible instructor Nishu to everyone!
